USING A PULSE ELECTRIC FIELD AS A WAY OF IMPROVING SEED QUALITY INDICATORS

Abstract

Harvesting certain agricultural crops or breeding new hybrids and high-quality varieties of plants in agriculture today is an important stage in the development of not only individual farms specializing in the cultivation of elite varieties, but also the entire industry of the country as a whole. The food security of the state has a foundation based on the increase in the production of raw materials, food products, etc. We are talking about all types of agricultural products produced today by all branches of agriculture, starting from crop production and ending with ready-made food products that have passed through several stages of manufacturing, starting with the harvesting process and ending with the finished product on the assembly line. However, in order to obtain that high-quality food product, you should have the starting element of appropriate quality, and, accordingly, the seed material. This may mean that the predicted scale of harvesting directly depends on the quality of the seed and on the extent to which its elements have preserved the ability of friendly, gradual germination and active phase of development in the first periods. The plant industry supports the concept of organic farming, as a result of which a special role is given to the improvement of seed quality and ecological safety of the original seed material. This is largely influenced by preliminary preparation and pre-sowing treatment. The approach to this kind of seed quality optimization can be based on different methods. This work presents a method of improving the quality of seed material by treating it with a pulsed electric field. The strategy of using means to control pests, parasitic plants and increasing nutrients in the seed itself has led to the massive use of toxic chemicals, dyes and growth stimulants, which subsequently negatively affects not only the safe composition of the final material, but the ability of the soil to produce high yields, which was avoided when using the method presented in this work.
